Welcome to TCR Racing News
August 21st, 2010- Race 17 and it was a good night for racing. Tyler was ready after another third place main event finish last week. Tyler took to the track to qualify and ended up in the seventh spot one out of the dash. Tyler would have to race heat race number one and he started from the pole. He was off at the drop of the green flag and soon had a pretty good lead but coming out of turn two Tyler spun out. Tyler finished fourth and that meant he would have to start deep in the field for the main event. After a few changes to the kart it was time for the main. Tyler started inside row seven and at the drop of the flag to start the race he was of and making some moves towards the front. Tyler found himself in the middle of a lot of traffic and that’s where the trouble started. After spinning out trying to avoid a crash he raced his way up to sixth but then some more karts crashed and Tyler had to cut across the grass infield to avoid the wreck. He lost a couple of spots but soon gained them back. With a lap and a half to go Tyler again found trouble with some other karts and lost a couple of positions. He raced hard on the white flag lap but couldn’t make up any ground and finished tenth. Overall it was a frustrating night but Tyler had fun and that’s what matters. Check back next week.
August 14th, 2010- Race 16 was set to start and Tyler was ready after a good finish the week before. The night started good with Tyler qualifying in the fourth position. The trophy dash was next and after some tough racing the 44 ended up fourth again. The lineup for the main showed Tyler starting from the outside of row four. They were lined up and ready and the green flag flew with Tyler getting a great start and he moved into the fourth spot. After a few good laps of hard racing Tyler moved into the third spot. Tyler could have used a caution to get the field bunched back up because the first and second place karts had a good lead. Tyler raced hard to hold on for a third place finish for the second week in a row. It was a good night with the season winding down and only three races to go. Check back next week.
August 7th, 2010- Race 15 and we were hoping for much better results after last weeks engine failure. We had the engine rebuilt and we were about to see how it would run. The track started out a little slicker than the kart was set up for and Tyler qualified in the twelfth position. The good news was the engine ran good. Tyler had to race one of two heat races because he didn’t make the top six for only the second time of the year. Tyler started from the inside of row two in heat two with four other karts. The green flag flew and they were off and racing toward turn one which they got through cleanly but coming out of turn two the 81 and 55t got together which opened the door for Tyler. Tyler took the lead and never looked back taking the checkers about half a lap ahead of second place. Tyler was very happy and said “don’t touch anything”. The main was next and Tyler took the green from the outside of the front row. Tyler got a great start and went into turn one in the lead and held on to it for a few laps before the 11and 89 both got past. The field settled in and the front three cruised to the finish with a hard charging 14 in a close fourth. It was a good night following the disappointment of last week. Check back next week.
July 31st, 2010- The season is cruising along and race 14 was upon us. The track was in good shape and it was time to qualify. Tyler took to the track and made the first two corners coming to the flag stand when something happened to the engine and the kart wouldn’t get up to speed. Tyler ended up last and there was work to be done. We worked on it in the pits and thought it might be fixed but it was obvious as soon as the green flag dropped on the heat race that it wasn’t. Tyler finished four in the five kart heat. We went to work on the engine again but decided to change it when the Bartlett’s offered their spare engine. We changed the engine just in time for the main event. Tyler started sixteenth when the green flag dropped. Tyler charged through the field like crazy driving harder than I think he’s driven before. He soon found himself in fifth place chasing the 55t when a lapped kart almost crashed him. He avoided the kart but lost a position to the 6r. Tyler took the white flag but going through turn two the kart came around on him and he had to sit there and wait for the other karts or he would have caused a big crash. He took off and finished the race in tenth which was still good considering. Tyler had a lot of fun in the race which made the earlier part of the day a little easier to take. Check back next week.
July 24th, 2010- Race 13 and it was another hot evening. The track started out with a lot of water on it with hopes it would last through the night. The first group of box stocks hit the track and Tyler was off and running. Tyler ran some very good laps and took the second fast time. It was a good start to the night. The trophy dash was up next and Tyler started from the inside of row three. He got off to a slow start but soon caught the 6r which he passed and caught the 89 going into turn three but he was on the outside and he pushed up too high coming off turn four and 6r passed him back. Tyler caught back up and passed the 6r again but couldn’t catch the 89. Tyler finished fifth and was off to the main event where he would start from the fifth row inside. The main event karts hit the track, fifteen of them, and they were set to go. The green flew and they were off and racing. The first few laps there were karts all bottled up all over the track and the Carrick boys (Tanner 55t and Blake 21b) got into one another and tangled on the back stretch. Tyler moved into fourth place and took the yellow. They lined back up and were off. It was a good twenty laps of racing and Tyler held on to the fourth spot to finish a good night of racing. Check back next week.
July 17th, 2010- Race twelve and it was another hot one. The track was in good shape and everyone was ready to go. Tyler ran some good looking laps and ended up fifth out of sixteen karts. The trophy dash was next and Tyler started from the outside of the front row. At the drop of the green Tyler was off and in the lead. He knew he had to try and get a lead because #11 and #14 would be on his bumper quick. Tyler led for four laps but spun in the middle of turns one and two when the two before mentioned karts and Tyler went three wide. Tyler kept going and finished fifth. The main event was next and Tyler started from the fifth row inside. At the drop of the green two karts got together and the green flag stayed out. Tyler was soon in fourth place and looking for more. Two karts passed Tyler and he was now in sixth. The second and third place karts then got into a wreck and Tyler slid into third. He stayed there until turn three with the checkered flag out. He raced the #14 down the back stretch side by side and when they got to the corner Tyler had just a nose on Ren when he came down too soon and spun himself sideways but didn’t get out of the throttle and over the burm and through the infield he crossed the line in sixth. He was very angry because he wanted to beat the #14 bad. We told him he did a great job and next week he could get after again.
July 10th, 2010- Race 11 was here and after a week off the weather decided it was time for summer. The temp. was over 100 and the karts were ready to hit the track. Tyler ran some good laps and qualified 6th. After cleaning up the kart and sitting around through the HEAT races it was time for the trophy dash. Tyler started on the pole but at the drop of the green the #14 of Ren Eberhart was hot on his bumper. Ren made the pass and Tyler fell into 2nd for a few laps. going into turn three Tyler bobbled and the #11 and #89 slipped past. Tyler finished in 4th place which was pretty good considering he told me the kart was loose and that was why he got passed. The evening brought a little cooler temps. and it was time for the main event. Tyler started from the outside of row 4. At the drop of the green a couple karts tangled so the field was lined up single file for the restart. This time everything went smooth and they were off and racing. Tyler was in 4th for awhile and then he found himself in a heated, two and three wide, battle for position. Tyler tried the bottom of the track but couldn't make a pass so he went to the middle/top and things were a little hairy. Tyler ended up in the 6th position but when he got out of the kart he said "That was stinking awesome, I love running the top just like Sean"The Shark"Becker." It was a good day for the first race after a break. We will be back next week so check back.
June 19th, 2010- Race nine and the weather was good for racing but the wind was bad for the track. The track started out pretty dry and qualifying was set to hit the track. Tyler took off and soon caught the #6 subbing for the 14. Tyler passed the 6 down the front stretch and the 6 spun Tyler out coming off of turn two. Tyler gathered it back up and qualified fifth after the remainder of the karts went out. The trophy dash was up next and Tyler was to start from the front row outside. They were off at the drop of the green and Tyler fell into the second spot within the first lap. Soon the 38 (driven by a 250 driver this week because Hollis can’t win cheating with his kid driving) was all over Tyler’s bumper and made the pass. Tyler finished third which was good for the team. The main event was set to hit the track next and Tyler was starting from the fourth row inside out of thirteen karts. They were off at the green and Tyler soon was in second place. After a few laps the 38 caught and passed Tyler for the second spot and Tyler tried his best to catch the 38. He didn’t catch him but he did hold off the 55t (Tanner Carrick) for the third spot. It was another good night of racing. Check back next week for race ten before we take a week off for Tyler’s crew chief’s B-day.
June 12th, 2010- Race eight and the temperature was on the rise but, the wind made it a little cooler. The track conditions started a little on the drier side compared to last week and Tyler’s crew was a little off. Tyler did a good job and qualified 6th which meant he would start on the pole in the dash. The dash was set to hit the track and Tyler was excited to start on the pole but he knew the always fast #11 and #14 were going to be on his tail soon. It only took a little over a lap for #11 to get there and he made the pass. Tyler held on to 2nd but the #14 almost caught him at the line. It was a good race and a good warm up for the main event. After all the dashes were finished it was time for the main. Tyler started from the outside of row three and at the drop of the green they were off and racing. Tyler drove a good race making many good moves and avoiding a few crashes. Tyler finished in 4th place for the second week in a row. It was a good day of racing and we’re looking forward to next week.
June 5th, 2010- We were back racing after a weekend off and the weather was starting to warm up. Due to the weather the track started out a little sloppy. Tyler qualified in the fifth spot. The kart looked good and Tyler was happy to be back at the track. The trophy dash was next and Tyler started from the outside of the front row. The green flew and the drag race was on going onto turn one. Tyler was side-by-side at the corner but let off to make the turn and fell into fourth place. Tyler would go on to finish in fourth which is a good solid run. The main event was next and the karts were ready to go. Tyler started from the fourth row outside. The green flag flew and they were off to a little rocky start but thing settled down and the race was on. There were a few tense moments but things went pretty well. The battle up front was heating up and Tyler found himself in sixth place. He caught the fifth place kart and made the pass while at the same time passing a lapped kart. Tyler was in fifth on the white flag lap when the fourth place kart tried to crash the third place kart and spun himself instead which let Tyler slide into the forth spot. It was a good night for having a week off. Check back next week.
May 23rd, 2010- Race six before a weekend off. Tyler started as always with qualifying and wound up in the sixth spot. He was excited because he would start on the pole of the trophy dash. The crew was a little nervous about almost missing the dash. The trophy dash karts lined up and were off at the drop of the green. The out side lane didn't get a good start and Tyler was off with the lead with #11 Michael(Buddy) Kofoid on his tail. Tyler had eight laps to hold off the fastest box stock kart at Cycleland and he did a great job but, with one lap and a corner to go a lapped kart spun and took a split second of Tyler's attention and that was all Buddy needed to make the pass. Tyler finished second and was happy that he ran well and he said the kart was really good. The main event was next and Tyler was started from the third row outside. The green flag flew and they were off. Tyler ran well and almost got crashed once by the 38 but held on to finish fifth. It was a good evenong of racing before the break. Have a great Memorial Day weekend and check back in a couple weeks.
May 15th, 2010- Had some computer problems so a little late with the news. Race five was here and Tyler was ready. This was the first race that all classes would qualify in order of point’s position starting with first place and so on. Tyler went out third in line and ran a very good lap putting him in third place. The trophy dash was next and Tyler started from the outside third row. Tyler filed into fourth and ran there until the checkered flew. The day was going pretty good so far and Tyler was ready for the main event. The main event karts were lined up and ready to go. Just before the karts were pulling on to the track Tyler’s engine died for some reason so we pulled out of line and finally got it going just as the green flag was in the air. Tyler entered the track and the caution came out due to a crash at the start. The field was lined up again and Tyler had to start from row eight instead of row four where he was suppose to start when his engine died. The green flag flew again and Tyler was off to find the leaders. Tyler drove a great race and finished in the 4th position for the end of a pretty good night of racing. Check back next week.
May 8th, 2010- Race number four and looking for another good night of racing. Qualifying was first and Tyler wound up in the third position. The kart looked good after making a few small changes over the past week. The heat race was next and Tyler started from the outside of row three. The outside line didn’t get a good start and they got shuffled back. Tyler found himself in fifth place and that is where he would finish. The main event was next and the karts were lined up. The green flag flew and they were off and racing. Tyler was on the move from his fifth row starting position. Tyler drove a good race and took the checkered flag in the 4th position.
May 2, 2010- Race three was here and Tyler was looking to have a good day after the bad luck last week. The evening started out with qualifying as always and Tyler did a good job coming in 4th quick. The next race was the dash and Tyler started in the second row for the second week in a row. At the drop of the green they were of and the field got a little mixed up but settled in with Tyler in the 4th position. Tyler raced hard and was all over the tail of the 38 who was looking pass the 22x. The 38 passed the 22x and Tyler was soon to follow which didn’t let the 38 get too far away. Tyler overhauled the 38 in short order and was off to find the leader which wasn’t going to be easy since the 11 was long gone. Tyler finished 2nd and was looking forward to the main. After a short break the main event karts were on the track and ready to go. Tyler started from the outside of the third row with the always fast 11 inside. The green flew and they were off to a good start. The karts settled in and there was a lot of good racing all over the track. Tyler’s kart was tight but he was able to hold off the hard charging 6r. The leaders were in sight and having a good battle of their own but Tyler couldn’t make up any ground and finished in 3rd for a good ending to the night. Check back next week. Special Thanks go out to First Responder Emergency Medical Services and The Hunting Crew for sponsoring Tyler’s Han’s device.
April 24th, 2010- Race one was a good start to the season but race two hopefully got all the bad luck out of the way. The evening started out good with Tyler qualifying 4th. The track was fast and the competition was fierce. The trophy dash was Tyler’s first race of the night and he would start from the second row inside. At the drop of the green the order got shuffled up and Tyler fell into 4th place. Tyler stayed in that position until the last lap when the 2nd and 3rd place karts got into each other fighting for position in turn three. Tyler was able to pass one of the two and finish 3rd. After watching a lot of good racing in the other classes it was time for the main event. They were lined up and pacing the field coming to the start. When the green flag flew Tyler got crashed by the kart on the outside of him so they had to realign the field. I don’t know how the officials figured out the restart order but Tyler got the worst end of their calculation and the kart that caused the crash started two rows ahead of Tyler ?. The green flag flew again and Tyler raced hard from the back to 6th place when the 38 and 6 crashed into each other and Tyler had no where to go. He slid into the other two but then took off but he got stuck on the berm and had to be pushed off which counted against him as an assist. The field was reset again and they were off with Tyler in the back. He raced past a couple of karts and coming out of turn two he found the 38 kart again spinning out of control again. Tyler almost made it past but they got tangled and they had to be separated which counted against Tyler for his second assist and he was sent to the infield to end his night in only five laps. Tyler was very disappointed and didn’t understand why the karts that caused his night to end early got to finish the race (38 two cautions). We told him he would have to come back next week race hard and don’t worry about this week.
April 17th, 2010- The summer racing season is here already and point race one was set to go on a very nice day. Tyler was ready to go with his new Han’s device and some new body parts on the kart. Qualifying was first to start the day. Tyler ran some good laps and ended up in the third spot. That was a good run for the first race of the season. The trophy dash was next in line and Tyler was starting from the second row outside. At the start the kart in front of Tyler didn’t take off with the leader and Tyler was stuck on the outside. The race settled in and Tyler ran in fifth for most of the race and that is where he would finish. Tyler was mad at the outcome but we told him he could get them back in the main event. Tyler would have to come from the fifth row to get to the front. The main event line up was set and there were eighteen karts set to go. The green flag flew and they were off and racing. Tyler drove a really good race making some good passes and avoiding a few wrecks. Tyler ran down the third place kart of Tanner Carrick but at the same time the fifth place kart of Adam Favors caught Tyler. The trio caught a lapped kart on the last lap and Tyler ended up fifth at the checkered flag. It was a good start to the season. Check back next week for more news.
March 12th & 13th, 2010-The points season was over and it was time for the WEST COAST NATIONALS. The prize was the big eagle trophy. Karts came from all over the western U.S. to try and claim the prize. Tyler qualified 7th overall out of 26 karts and that made him eligible for the DASH for CASH. Tyler started 6th and drove a very good race to finish in 3rd place. After the long rainy day it was time to go home and get some rest. Saturday started with qualifying heats which drivers gained point to add to their qualifying points to determine their starting position in the main event. Tyler ran most of the race in 2nd place but the leader flipped on the back stretch and Tyler took the lead for good. Tyler got the win which meant he would get a good starting spot in the main event. After a ridiculously long break in was finally time for the main event. Tyler started from the 2nd row outside and was off to a great start at the drop of the green. In just a few laps the top three karts had some separation from the field and Tyler was running 3rd but hunting for 2nd and it wasn’t long before he was in 2nd. The leader was next in his sites and Tyler was all over the back of the #6r (Ryan “Rhino” Williams, your 2009-2010 RB Outlaws B. Box Champion) and in a little bit of a scary moment #6r flipped in turn four giving Tyler the lead with about fifteen laps to go. After three or four cautions Tyler was looking good and the second place kart #55x (Angelo Cornet) wasn’t showing that he could make a run. Tyler was flying and soon found himself in lapped traffic with two laps to go. While taking the white flag partially in the infield while passing a slower kart on the front stretch, the #55x and #78 were gaining ground. Heading into turn three there were some lapped karts in the way and the #2c spun out so Tyler went high to avoid a crash and bumped into the #78 who had a good run on the top. The second place kart #55x tried to follow Tyler and ended up crashing into Tyler on the left side. Tyler flipped over and landed on his wing while #78 made it through and took the win. It was the WORST feeling ever. I think the whole grandstand sighed. Tyler didn’t win the big prize but he didn’t get hurt, he had, fun, and he drove a GREAT RACE. Cycleland starts April 3rd with a practice so check back after a short break. Also check out www.DuarteFamilyVineyards.com they are a new sponsor of TCR Racing and they make a very good wine.
March 6, 2010- The last race of the winter series was here and the point battle for third was tight. Tyler had a 12 point lead going into the race. Tyler started by qualifying 8th which wasn’t too bad. The heat races were next and Tyler had to start in the back of his heat. Tyler got to the bumper of the second place kart but couldn’t make the pass after several attempts. Tyler finished third but due to an illegal driver change by the kart that won the heat they were disqualified and that put Tyler in a transfer spot. After a long wait it was time for the “A” Main. Tyler started in the middle of the pack and ran a very tough race. He finished in 7th place two spots behind the #78 (Brad Dolin) who he was trying to stay ahead of in points. Tyler did stay ahead of him finishing the season in 3rd place
February 13, 2010- Race 12 was here and so was some pretty nice weather. Qualifying was first up and Tyler was looking for a top six spot and he got it qualifying sixth. The always nerve racking heat was next and Tyler ran a great race racing his way into second. Coming to the checkered flag in turn three #6(The Rhino) drove under Tyler and they came out of turn four side by side for the transfer spot to the “A” main. The Rhino beat Tyler to the stripe by about half a kart. Tyler had to run the “B” main for a transfer to the “A” main. Tyler ran another good race and finished second to the other 44. (44m Bailey Martin) The trophy dash, which Tyler has missed the last two races, was up next and he was on the pole for the start. The green flag dropped and they were off. The #81 (Jayden Bartlett) won the race to turn one and Tyler tried several time to get around but couldn’t make the pass and finished second. After a break in the action the mains were lined up. Tyler had to start in the second to last row but once the green was in the air he was on the hunt for the lead and with some much needed luck and great driving he finished fourth. It was a good day for points and confidence headed to the last points race of the season.
February 6, 2010- Back at Red Bluff for race 11 and hoping the good racing from Lakeport would carry over but the day started out a little slow with Tyler qualifying eleventh out of 24 karts. My suspicions of the engine getting weak might be true. The heat race was next and Tyler finished four which meant he would have to go to the always wild “B” main to try and get the transfer spot to the “A” main. Tyler started fourth and was running there until the third place kart spun out right in front of Tyler and crashed. Tyler had to go to the back of the field and the race resumed. Tyler raced his way back up to fifth but the laps ran out and Tyler didn’t make the transfer. It was another bad luck week which seems to be the norm here at the end of the season but we’re not giving up yet. We’ll be back next week to try it again. If you’re interested our newest sponsor http://www.Fathead.com has given us the code “KART” for you to enter for free shipping on your order. Check it out!
January 30, 2010- We had two weeks off from Red Bluff so we figured we would go try Lakeport Speedway and try that again. Tyler liked racing there last year and wanted to go again. We showed up 9:00am Sat. morning and it was a very busy place. There were a lot of karts. Tyler’s first time on the track since last year was qualifying and it was like he raced there all the time turning the third quick time. Tyler ended up third fast behind #6r (The Rhino) Ryan Williams and the Lakeport points leader of the class. The heat race was up next and I told Tyler to stay out of trouble and keep the kart in one piece. He ended up fifth. The next race was the trophy dash and Tyler was on the pole. The Rhino who was on the outside beat Tyler to the first corner and Tyler was unable to make a pass and finished second. Next up, the reason we were there, the main event for the Perpetual Trophy. Tyler started from the second row and they were off. After a few early cautions Tyler found himself in second behind #44m (Bailey Martin) it was looking like it was going to be a 44 show but slow traffic and a crash that Tyler and
January 16, 2010- Race 10 and the big trophy was on the line. It was the Red Bluff Perpetual Trophy race. The perpetual trophy is always a highly sought after award so the drivers seem to push a little harder to claim it. Cold weather and rain were in the air and the track was pretty tacky. Tyler’s pit crew didn’t quit hit the set up right and Tyler qualified 7th. We thought at least that would make for a better stating position through out the night but we were wrong. Apparently the officials decided to do something different on this day.? Tyler started in the rear of his heat and at the start of the race was crowed to the bottom where he caught the burm and climbed the wall and over ha went on his side. The race was restated single file and Tyler was off. Tyler was passing the #85 kart when that driver decided to crash into the side of Tyler but he kept going and finished second. The long wait for the main event saw a lot of crashing as that turned out to be common on this day. The main event was set and Tyler was on the inside of row three for the start. Tyler raced hard and avoided some crashes on his way to a seventh place finish. Tyler was disappointed but after the tip over in the heat race it was an OK day. Red Bluff is taking the next couple of weeks off but we do plan to race Lakeport Speedway for their perpetual trophy on Jan. 30th. January 9th 2010- The New Year started out with Tyler qualifying number one. The heat race was challenging because of the karts that were in Tyler's heat. There were three karts that were fast and Tyler had to start in the back. Tyler raced to third and after the #11w spun out he was in second behind #44m (Bailey Martin). Tyler was on Bailey's bumper but couldn't make the pass. He finished second and got the transfer spot to the "A" main. The year was much better already. The dashes were next and Tyler started in the back because of being fast time. Tyler raced his way to third and stayed in that position just beating the #92L to the checkered flag. After a short break the main event was set to go. Tyler started from the eighth position. There were a lot of cautions in the early part of the race but then settled down. There seemed to be something wrong with Tyler's kart because he couldn't make up any ground and finished in the eighth spot. It was a much better day than the last two races of 2009. During the ride home Tyler said his kart was loose and something was wrong with it and that is why he couldn't go any faster. We inspected the kart Sunday and found the problem, a flat left rear tire due to a good size hole in the sidewall. We will put on a new tire and be back next week to try it again.
Dec. 19th, 2009- Tyler hit the track hoping for some luck this week and at the start it looked good after qualifying first fast. The only thing with qualifying fast is it makes the rest of the day harder. It's kind of being penalized for being fast. The heat race started terrible when 92L(Lexi Raudmen) drove Tyler to the wall at the start of the race. Tyler played catch the leader but couldn't get ahead after the terrible start. I thought the kids were suppose to learn in this class but apparently dirty racing is what is being taught. Tyler finished fifth which meant(due to the kart count) off to the "C" main. Tyler lapped the field several times and won the "C" but next was the "B" main. Tyler started in the back and in a few laps was in fourth but tangled with #10(Eric Nelson) trying to make a pass on the inside with a slower kart up high three wide. The race restarted and Tyler was back to sixth and gaining ground when the #85 crashed into him as he was making the pass on the front stretch. Tyler went to the back again and ran out of laps in sixth place. No "A" main two weeks in a row is very bad luck. The racing wasn't over yet because the trophy dash was still come. Tyler started the dash in last place and found it was going to be hard to pass. On the last lap the leader and the second place kart crashed in turn two and Tyler finished third. We'll see if the Holidays bring any good fortune. Happy Holidays.
Dec. 12th, 2009- Tyler qualified second but couldn't get the tranfer in his heat finishing fourth. Ty started from the front row of the "B" main and was taking the lead when he tangled with a lapped kart. The "B" main is not where you want to be because the true beginners in this class are veryyyy slow and a danger to themselves and others because of the speed difference. Hopefully the parents see this and try somthing else. Tyler managed to race back to sixth which was awsome but didn't make the "A" main. Tyler wasn't done racing thou because he was in the trophy dash. Tyler started int the back and finished third. Hope for some better luck next week.
Dec. 5th, 2009- It was a cold and windy day of racing at the Bluff. It was also Tyler’s eighth birthday. The racing began with qualifying and for the second week in a row the track started out fast. Tyler was second fast after the first round and that is where he would end up after the second round. Tyler ran a very good lap of 10.375seconds. The heat race was next and Tyler was ready to go and not to the “B”main this time. He raced his way to the front pretty quick and on the last restart following a caution he took the lead for good from #21B(Blake Carrick). The trophy dash was up next following a short break. Tyler started inside of the last row (row three). Tyler raced his way to third place and almost had second at the checkered flag. The main event was the last race and Tyler found himself deep in the field for the start. Coming around turn four in lap one Tyler was trying to make the pass on #10(Eric Nelson) when they touched wheels and Tyler tipped over on his side. It was the first time Tyler had been on his side and after the race he said it was fun and it made him go faster. I think it did make him go faster because after he was right side up again and the red flag was put away the green flag flew and he was off. Tyler was picking karts off left and right heading to the front where the 55x (Angelo Cornet) was cruising out front. Tyler caught him and tried to make the pass but couldn’t quite do it. Tyler crossed the finish line in second place which was a great finish considering lap one. Check back next week.
He raced his way to the front pretty quick and on the last restart following a caution he took the lead for good from 21B(Blake Carrick). The trophy dash was up next following a short break. Tyler started inside of the last row (row three). Tyler raced his way to third place and almost had second at the checkered flag. The main event was the last race and Tyler found himself deep in the field for the start. Coming around turn four in lap one Tyler was trying to make the pass on #10 (Eric Nelson) when they touched wheels and Tyler tipped over on his side.
November 21, 2009- Race five already! The season is going by pretty fast. Speaking of fast, Tyler qualified FAST TIME for this race. The 55x almost caught him but Tyler ran his fastest time ever with a 10.353 second lap. The heat race was next with Tyler starting in the rear of the six kart field. Tyler made a few passed but the laps ran out and Tyler finished third which meant he would have to go to the “B” main. Tyler started on the pole for the “B” and was off and racing. After several cautions and some good driving by Tyler he took the win a transferred to the “A” main. The trophy dash was next on the schedule and Tyler had his work cut out for him if he wanted to get to the front. The dash is only six laps so it’s hard to get up front. Tyler made some really good moves and made the pass for second just before the checkered flag. The main event was lined up and Tyler was deep in the field, starting ninth. The green flag dropped and Tyler got tangled with 55x but they separated and were back in the race. After a lot of good racing, a few cautions, and tense moments Tyler finished third. It was an awesome day at the races. We will be off for Thanksgiving weekend but back at it on the fifth of December which is also Tyler’s eighth B-day. Check back and have a good Thanksgiving.
November 14, 2009- Race four and Mom has been released from her duty as crew chief. Qualifying was first and Tyler ended up third quick. The heat race was next and Tyler started in the back. Tyler raced hard and ended up in the second position. After the long break the trophy dash was lined up and set to go. Tyler started third and finished fourth. So far it was a good day of racing and the main event was next. Tyler started in the middle of the pack and raced hard to get to the front. Running fourth on the white flag lap there was a tangle up and the third place kart got gathered up and Tyler got threw and finished third. It was another good day for the TCR Racing team.
November 7, 2009- Race number three and Mom is still in charge. After some trouble with officiating last week it was time to get after it. Tyler qualified third and was off to another good start. The heat race was next up and Tyler finished second behind #81 (Jayden”Jay Bug” Bartlett), congrats Buggy. The trophy dash was next and Tyler started from the fourth position. When the checkered flag flew Tyler was in third place. So far the day was going good. The main event was lined up and ready and Tyler was on the outside of the front row. After a few cautions Tyler found himself out front and held the field off through several more cautions to take his first victory of the season. AWESOME JOB!!! Special thanks to the Stone’s, Bartlett’s, and anyone else that helped the TCR Racing team the last two weeks. Thanks Bob and Clarence for making sure my engine was in good shape while I was gone.
October 31, 2009- Halloween night and Mom is in charge. There was never any doubt that ever thing would be fine. Qualifying started the day as always and Tyler did awesome with the second quick lap of the day. Heat races would follow and Tyler did another awesome job winning his heat race. After a short break it was time for the trophy dash Tyler started fifth and that is where he finished. The main event was next and it was an exciting one with a lot of action, cautions, and lead changes. Tyler did a great job and finished second. It was a good end to a good day until Bob took the engine for inspection. That’s another story.
Oct.24, 2009- The first race of the winter series was here and it was a busy day. The weather was good and the karts were plenty. Tyler started out with qualifying and when it was over he was fourth fast. First race out and going to the dash. Tyler started fifth out of five for his heat race and was off to find the lead at the drop of the green. Tyler was trying to pass the first and second place karts coming out of turn four but the leader lost control and crashed into Tyler. Tyler got it gathered back up and went to fourth. The green flew again and Tyler headed to the front. Tyler made the pass for the lead at the white flag and took the checkered flag. After a bit of a break it was dash time. Tyler started second row inside. It was a pretty clean race and Tyler finished where he started, third. The main event was set to go and Tyler found himself second row inside again behind 44m (Bailey Martin, also numbered after Matt Shelton of M.J. Shelton General Engineering). Bailey didn’t get off to the best start at the drop of the green and the outside pole sitter took the lead. During the race Tyler ran second or third the entire race with a few chances to pass but didn’t force the issue. At the white flag a slow kart bottled up the field coming out of turn four and the 44m came out of it in second and Tyler was third. That’s how the race ended for a good start to the Red Bluff season. Congratulations to 78 (Brad Dolin) for is first “A” main win. The crew chief for the 44 “Cobra” will be out of town for the next race so MOM will take charge. Check back in a couple of weeks for the latest.
September, 19th 2009 – the last race was here and it was another hot one. Tyler was ready after the break to do some racing. We drew the undesirable first group to qualify but it ended up working out alright. Tyler was on the throttle as soon as he hit the track and ended up second fast out of the twenty three karts that showed up. It was a great start to the night. The trophy dash was next with Tyler starting on the inside of row two. The green flag flew but Tyler and another kart made contact and Tyler fell to the rear. Tyler spun out one time due to pit crew error but he kept going and finished in sixth. The main event had the makings of a wild race but the Box Stock kids shows awesome skills and ran twenty laps with twenty three karts and only had one caution. Tyler started on the outside of row six. Tyler drove the best race I think he has ever driven because of the karts he passed, the way he passed them, and the karts he held off. It was a really good race and Tyler ended up in the sixth position. Next week is the awards night and a special race. The winter season will be starting soon so check the schedule. See you at the races.
August 29th, 2009- Point race 18 was another hot day and the track started out pretty wet. The track was perfect for Tyler to qualify. Tyler ended up second fast. That is the fastest he qualified all season. If it wasn't for a yellow flag and getting held up by another kart he might of had fast time?. The trophy dash was next and Tyler started in fifth place, third row inside. At the start Tyler got stuck behind another kart and it took him a few laps to get around which gave the rest of the field a good lead. Tyler finished fifth. Congrats to 55T (Tanner Carrick) for another trophy dash win. That is who Tyler is chasing for rookie of the year. The bad thing about finishing fifth in the dash is you have to start tenth in the main and that makes it tough to get to the front. The main got off to a good start and it was pretty much follow the leader for awhile until two karts got together and the caution came out. Tyler was running in seventh place on the restart and that is where he finished. It was a good night of racing and now we get two weeks off before the last points race.
August 22, 2009- The 17th race of the season was here but it didn’t get off to a very good start. The box stocks were lined up to go out to qualify and the timing computer went out. After a bit of a delay it was decided to race heat races lined up by point standings. Tyler was in the second heat and started on the front row outside. The green flew and they were off. The race went without incident and Tyler finished second which meant he was in the dash. The dash was next and the track was pretty dry. With a few changes to the kart Tyler raced a good race with 55T (Tanner Carrick) on his bumper and finished third. The main event was next and Tyler had to start inside of the fifth row. The race started off good and went with a few problems towards the back of the field but not many. Then on a restart the fourth, fifth, and sixth place karts got tangled and Tyler missed the wreck. The rest of the race went pretty smooth and Tyler finished 6th. It was a good night all around. We’ll be back next week. See ya. Tyler says Peace.
August 15th, 2009- Race 16 was here and the season is winding down. The TCR crew made more changes to the kart trying to get the kart back to the dash and it worked. Tyler went out in the second group of three to qaulify. Out of the first ten karts Tyler was the only one in the 12 second bracket with a 12.7sec. time. The track was getting faster thou and there was some good karts coming up in the last group. when it was over Tyler was fourth quick. We were all very happy. The next race was the trophy dash. Tyler started in the second row on the inside. When the green flag flew the leaders got together and Tyler ran up on the burm and he moved back to fifth spot. The race went on without any more trouble and Tyler ended up sixth. Finishing in sixth spot was going to put Tyler deep in the field for the start of the main. We were just glad that Tyler made the dash again so we weren't worried about the starting spot. The main event got off to a little bit of a rough start but everyone settled in and they were off. There were a few spins which Tyler narrowly avoided and a caution but overall the race went pretty smooth. Oh ya! There was the time Tyler spun out in turn four at the same time #22x (Wade Townsend) spun. When Tyler took off he pulled out in front of #6r (Ryan Williams) and Ryan spun which gathered the leader #55t (Tanner Carrick) but it didn't hold them up long and they were off again. Tanner who was thre leader and #6e (Emily Williams) who was in second lapped Tyler with a few to go and Tyler held on to eighth place for a pretty good night. CONGRATULATIONS to #55t TANNER CARRICK for his first main event WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWSOME JOB!!!!!!!!!!
August 8th, 2009- Race 15 is here just four to go. For the second week in a row Tyler got stuck behind a slow kart and it cost him a trophy dash start. The heat race was going to be a tough one with some good karts. Tyler started on the inside of row two and they were off. The #44 didn't get off to a good start and was running in fourth where he would run for the entire heat race. a fourth place heat finish would put Tyler deep in the field for the start of the main event. Tyler started in 14th place in main. The race started and they were off. It was a bit crazy until things spread out a little bit and Tyler found himself having to dodge a couple of crashes. When it was all over Tyler ended up ninth which was alright considering the starting position. The team will regroup and try it again next week. Check back for more news.
August 1st, 2009- Race 14 was here and it was still pretty warm. Tyler qaulified 8th but had a kart that should have been better. During qaulifying Tyler caught a slower kart it cost him a spot in the trophy dash. Tyler would have to go get them in the heat race. After a few changes to the kart it was time for the heat race. tyler was on the outside front row. He didn't get off to a very good start as thge kart pushed up the track on the start. He found him self in 4th place. There was a little trouble with some other karts and Tyler gained a spot. The heat race ended with the #44 in 3rd place. The main event was up next and Tyler started on the inside of the second row. The race started and it was a mad dashy for the front. Tyler settled in in fourth. There was a couple of cautions and Tyler avoided a few wrecks but after going high to miss a kart that spun the #44 found himself three wide down the back strech and nobody was lifting. In the middle of turn three #21a (Adam Favors) moved up the track to avoid the #21(Michael Ing) and drove up on Tyler's left front tire which sent the #21a and Tyler spinning. Tyler took off without damage but the #21a driver wasn't feeling so good and he pulled into the infield. Tyler lined up in sixth and that is where he would finish. It was a pretty good night for TCR Racing.
July 25th, 2009- Race 13 was another hot one. The crew made several changes to the #44 and were hoping it would work. Qualifying showed that the changes were too much. The kart was loose and Tyler qualified 8th. We tightened up the kart and were ready for the heat race. It was close for a few laps with Tyler almost getting under the 55t (Tanner Carrick). Tyler ended up 2nd. The kart looked pretty good but there was more work to do. The main event was up next with 55t and 44 on the front row, same as the heat. At the drop of the green Tyler raced hard but being on the outside hurt Tyler again when they got to turn one. Tyler fell in behind 55t and the race was on. The field spread out and the 44 was running mid pack and pretty much hung there the whole race. Tyler took the checkered flag in 7th place. It was a decent night but the point battle has tightened with the 55t and 21a tied only seven point behind Tyler for fourth place. Check back next week. I forgot to mention that Tyler raced with his chin stiched up and derma bonded due to a bike crash he suffered on Fri. Karts are safer than bikes!!
July 18th, 2009- Race twelve was the hottest to date with the temperature over 105. We were hoping for better results than last week and it turned out OK. Tyler qualified 8th missing the dash by .2 seconds. The kart looked good and Tyler drove good lines but just not quite enough speed. The crew needs to do more work. Tyler started on the pole for heat number two. At the start of the race the outside pole sitter took a little early but the start stood and the race was on. Tyler finished second and would start second row outside in the main event. Going into the main the points race was tight with #55t (Tanner Carrick) hot on Tyler’s tail. The #44 needed a good finish. At the drop of the green the outside pole sitter didn’t go and held up the line so Tyler dropped from fourth to eleventh. The field spread out quickly and Tyler was in the middle fighting for positions. Tyler was able to pass three karts and finished 8th. On two of the restarts the #9(Brown) jumped the starts and was penalized two spots so Tyler will get credit for 7th. Good for Tyler, bad for Tanner the #55t was involved in a crash during the race and finished 13th. The crew will go to work and try to find more speed for next week. Check in next week.
July 11th, 2009- Another hot one for race eleven. Tyler started out as always with qualifying and he wasn’t very happy when it was over. He ended up tenth over all out of seventeen karts. It was disappointing but there was more racing to go. The heat race started and Tyler was off trying to catch the leader. He almost caught 22x (Townsend) on the last two laps but finished second. The main event was up next. The #44 started on the outside of row two and at the drop of the green he got shuffled back because of being on the outside with no room to get to the bottom lane. As the race went on the field was really spread out and there was action every where. Halfway thru the race Tyler got spun out by the #89 (Michael Call) and lost two spots. Tyler couldn’t make up any ground and was frustrated in the kart. He brought it home in 11th and was not happy at all. The team had to have a talk and get settled for next week. Check back next week for more results.
June 27th 2009-HOT!! HOT!! Race ten was by far the hottest day of the season and the year. The temp. gauge was reading over a 100 when the racing began. The track was in good shape for qualifying. Tyler ran his quickest qualifying time with a 12.9 second lap but missed the dash finishing 8th. The track was changing fast with heat and the lap times were falling for all the classes. By the time heat race two for the box stocks came around the track wasn't bad because of some water being put on the track after qualifying. Tyler started from the pole and was off like a shot at the drop of the green. He never looked back and checked out on the field. The #44 took the checkered flag a half a lap ahead of second place. The heat race win meant starting on the outside front row of the main event. The sun finally went down and it cooled off a little and it was time for the box stock main. It was an all Tyler front row with #9 (Tyler Brown) starting on the pole and #44 on the outside. The first attempt at a start wasn't very good with the #9 jumping the start as he's always told to do. They lined back up and were off with a good start. #44 was dead even down the front stretch but being on the outside wasn't good. Coming out of turn one Tyler was in fourth place after being passed by #11 (Kofoid) and #6e (Williams). After a few laps third place #6e spun and Tyler moved into third where he stayed for awhile until the dangerous but fast #11p (Robinson) muscled his way past, at least he didn't crash Tyler like he's done to others. From that point on the race stayed green with Tyler finishing in fourth for another top five. It was a good day of racing considering the heat. Next week No racing for the FOURTH. Have a great holiday and check back after July 11th for the results.
June 20th,2009- We are halfway through the season and point race nine is here. The night started with qualifying which turned out better than last week but no dash. The #44 will be back in the dash soon. Tyler was eighth fast and that put him on the outside of the front row for the heat race. The heat race got off to at great start and Tyler had a good run down the front stretch but Tyler had to slow for the corner because he wasn't far enough ahead to take the position. After the start Tyler ran second but could gain coming out of the corners but not close enough for the pass. Tyler finished second and that meant the main event would start the same way the heat started with Tyler on the outside of the front row. The green flag flew for the start of the main and Tyler got another great start but still couldn't clear #11p. Soon the #11(Kofoid) and #6e(Williams) passed Tyler and the race settled down up front with Tyler in fourth. The race went green for a few laps but Tyler couldn't make up any ground. He held his own and was running some good laps. After a few caution laps the race resumed with 1st to 4th staying the same. Tyler brought it home in fourth for another top five finish. Next week we will be back for more.
June 13th,2009- Point race eight didn't get off to a good start because Tyler apparently pulled a groin muscle. He wasn't sure if he could race. Tyler decided he could race so off he went to qualify. The track was pretty wet and the groove was narrow. Tyler ended up 11th. The heat was next with Tyler starting on inside of row two. It was a good race but Tyler couldn't catch the leader #21A(Adam Favors), it was a good run finishing second with a bum leg. Tyler started the main second row inside again. With 15 karts starting the main it was intense. Tyler ran a really good race. He had to avoid a few wrecks and a lot of lapped traffic to bring it home in 5th place. Tyler will rest the leg and hopefully feel better next week.
June 6th,2009-The weather couldn't have been much better for race seven. The track was good and the box stocks were fast. Tyler reported the kart was loose after he qualified 9th. Tyler didn't make the dash but he was starting on the front row of the heat race next to #21(Michael Ing). Tyler ran second but took the lead when a slow kart made #21 go high and #44 went to the bottom. Tyler came of turn two with the lead and checked out to take the heat win. This meant pole position for the main event. The green flag dropped and Tyler got a great start. Tyler led for awhile but soon found #11(Michael Kofoid ) looking at the inside. Tyler held him off for a few laps but Kofoid made the pass. The next kart to hunt down the #44 was # 6e(Emily Williams) and after a lap she made the pass and opened the door for the #11b(Ryan Robinson) to sneak past. Tyler settled into fourth and rode it out to the end. It was a good night for the team. We will work on qualifying next week.
May 30th,2009-A few days before race six Tyler was getting sick with a sore throat but he wanted to race so here's what happened. The night started with qualifying as always. Tyler was fifth quick and looking pretty good at this point. As the night went on Tyler looked tired but said he was ready to go. The trophy dash was next with Tyler on the outside front row. He didn't get off to a great start but the race was on. Tyler ended up in fifth place. The main event was next and Tyler had to start in the back. It took the 44 awhile to get going but he worked his way up a couple of positions and was in need of a caution to reel in #21(Michael Ing). Tyler was gaining a little bit each lap but there weren't enough laps. Tyler finished fifth for the third time of the night. It was a good night considering Tyler not feeling well. When his main was over he went home for some needed rest. Check in next week for new results.
May 16th, 2009-Race five Cycleland paid tribute to the military by calling the race Armed Forces Night. It was hot out so they put a lot of water on the track to start the night. Tyler ran a little too low during qualifying putting him seventh quick. Shortly after Box qualifying the track computer became erratic and the officials decide to line up the dashes by points. That was good for Tyler because he is third in points and his time wasn’t quick enough to get into the dash. Starting second row outside Tyler was off to a good start in the dash. The kids, as always, drove a great race and Tyler finished third. The main event was next and the lineup was set. Tyler fell in behind #11(Kofoid) at the start and they were off to find the leaders. Tyler got caught up in traffic and it took him a few laps to get clear. Behind him coming fast was #6e (Williams). The race was pretty clean and went by fast. Tyler was running four when the white flag flew. Williams passed Tyler but he was closing on third place as they went into turn 3. Just out of turn four the third place kart 11x (McDowell) got loose and Tyler came across in third. The track officials decided to make the race a non-points race because of the problems with the computer. It would have been a good points night for Tyler because the fourth and fifth karts in points didn’t show. It was still a good night because Tyler drove another great race.
May 9th, 2009-Rain cancelled race number three so we took it easy for a week and Tyler put in a few practice laps at home. Race four started with hot laps and qualifying. Tyler missed the trophy dash by one position, qualifying seventh. Tyler started on the pole of the heat race. He didn’t get off very good at the drop of the green so he slipped into second. After sizing up 55T (Tanner Carrick) for a few laps he made the pass on the inside and took off for his first Box Stock heat race win. Tyler was excited and ready for the main event. Starting on the pole Tyler got off to a good start and the race was on. A few laps into the race there was a caution for a crash in turn four. Racing back to the yellow Tyler was passed by 6E (Emily Williams) and restarted in second place. After just a few more laps 6E had engine trouble and fell back. Tyler was in the lead for a few laps when 11 (Michael Kofoid) made the pass. 11 and 44 took off to a good lead when the caution flag flew again. The field was bunched up and Tyler “The Cobra” found 21 (Michael Ing) hot on his tail. The race resumed and Tyler finished second. This was Tyler’s best finish in his third Box Stock start.
April 25th, 2009-There was excitement in the air after a great first race in the Box class. After qualifying we were even more excited because Tyler was fourth quick out of 14 karts. The trophy dash was a very good race. The first half of the race had a few yellows and Tyler made it through OK. He drove a great race and finished third. The main event was next. The main got off to a good start with all kids doing a great job. After the first half of the race Tyler was in third place and the leaders had a pretty good lead. The last half a dozen laps found Tyler in a good race for third with 8jr (Brian McGahn Jr.). Tyler got a little side ways on the white flag lap and 8jr was right there to take the position which was good because Tyler might have spun and lost more positions. Tyler finished fourth which was awesome for his second Box Stock race. Hopefully there will be some new pictures on the picture page from www.GraphXDesigns.com check it out.
April 18, 2009- The first points race at Cycleland and the first race for Tyler in the Box Stock class. The family was a little nervous but the nerves were settled after qualifying fifth. That was an awesome feeling for Tyler and the rest of us. Tyler started on the outside of the front row for the trophy dash and got off to a great start. A few laps in Tyler lost grip and started to spin. With no place to go #21, Michael Ing, crash into the side of Tyler and rolled on his side. Michael was all right and the race resumed. Tyler ended up in fifth place. The main event was next with Tyler starting ninth. At the beginning there were a few crashes but once everything settled down it was a good race. Tyler drove and awesome race and finished unofficially third. There was a possible infraction on a restart that might put us in second. Either way it was a great job for the first night in a new class. Tyler will be back next week so stay tuned.
April 11,2009- The Cycleland season is here and the first race is the Spring Challenge. Tyler went into the summer series in the beginner box class. We wanted to see how he would adjust going back to Cycleland after only racing there one season. He didn’t miss a step. He hit the track and took off like he just raced there last week. We knew he wouldn’t stay in this class as he showed he was ready to move up to Box Stock. The race went on after lapping the field in the first hot lap session it was on to session number two. Tyler had lapped the field and took the white flag when he spun in turn two. Tyler took off again and won the heat. The main event Tyler started on the pole and was off and running. Tyler won the race and that is when we decided for sure he was moving up. Our Subaru was sent to get converted to the Box setup on Monday morning. Next week should be exciting.
Feb.27th-28th, 2009-TCR Racing decided to try Lakeport Speedway for their perpetual trophy race. Friday was a practice day and Tyler took to the track like he raced there all season. After driver and crew figured things out the “COBRA” ran the second fastest lap of the day. Things looked good going into Saturday. Saturday started with an hour and a half of practice for all the karts. We ran the first session and Tyler was fourth fast, so we parked the kart to save the driver for the race. Qualifying means everything at Lakeport because it sets the mains. Tyler qualified 5th only .029 seconds from 4th and the trophy dash. Tyler started second in his heat with all but one Red Bluff regular. Tyler finished second and it was off to the “A” main. Apparently they don’t want their kids to learn how to start a race properly in Lakeport so they use a quad to pace the field. It was a little different for Tyler but he had it figured out after the heat however, the quad rider changed it up a little in the main and didn’t go when he was supposed to. Tyler was anticipating the start and took off when the rider showed the same move as the heat but Tyler passed the quad so they restarted the race. The start was good but Tyler got passed in turn one. Tyler filed in behind the leader and the race was on until about halfway when #11x took Tyler out while running side by side on the short back stretch. Tyler dropped to the rear of the field and finished 9th when it was over. For not racing at the track before Tyler did a GREAT JOB.
Feb.14th, 2009-After the crash last race the kart was pretty bent but it was straightened and ready for action. The new front end parts and a tweak to the frame must have been what was needed to get a few more tenths because Tyler qualified 4th quick. This was Tyler’s first trophy dash appearance. Tyler finished 4th in a tough heat number four. The 4th place qualifying spot and not transferring out of the heat put Tyler on the pole of the “B” main. Tyler checked out on the field and drove an awesome race. The trophy dash was next with Tyler inside of the second row at the start. The race was close and Tyler finished where he started 3rd. The “A” main was another great beginner box race. The kids drove really well. Tyler finished in 9th place the same as he started. For all the repairs done to the kart it was a good night.
Feb.7th, 2009- Tyler qualified 11th on the slightly reconfigured track after the two week lay off. Tyler started on the outside of the front row in heat 3. The first attempt at a start didn’t work very well so the field was realigned and on the second try the #44 was off and running with #38x Hollis Shane Thackery close behind. There was no threat for the lead as Tyler drove a great race taking the win. Sorry to say #23h Dustin Heath didn’t transfer to the A main. Tyler started 7th in the A main and ran into trouble literally about half way through. Tyler hit the front stretch wall a ton avoiding a crash in turn four. After a quiet moment Tyler thankfully was alright but that couldn’t be said about his #44 kart or his helmet. The visor broke off of his helmet, the frame was very bent, and all of the steering components were bent. Tyler lined up at the rear of the field for the restart and off they went. Somehow “The COBRA” managed to wheel his kart to the finish without a visor and the right front tire barely touching the ground. He was awesome and finished 8th. We will assess the damage and see what happens next week.
Jan.17th, 2009- The race after the Big Win started with Tyler qualifying 11th. Heat 3 Tyler started on the outside of the front row. The green dropped and the yellow was soon to follow. Tyler and the #38 Bennett Gooch III went into turn one side by side and ended up tangled. Tyler finished 4th which meant off to the exciting B main. Tyler raced hard with the always fast #81 Colton Able close behind. Tyler won the race which was good for a 9th place start in the A main. The A main was full of great racing as always in the beginner class. Tyler “The COBRA” Rodgers finished 7th with #11 “Buddy” Kofoid taking home the big Perpetual Trophy. Congratulations to #7 Derick Stone (one of the Amigos) for his first trophy dash appearance and for WINNING the dash. AWSOME!
Jan.10th, 2009- The 2009 racing season couldn’t have started any better. The day started with qualifying. Tyler found himself in 9th place which meant he was in the fastest heat #1. Tyler finished second to the always fast #11 “Buddy” Kofoid. Second place meant straight to the A main. The B main on the other hand was full of very fast karts and one of the fastest every night (55x) unfortunately didn’t make the A. A new year, a new paint scheme, and a pole position start in the A main was a great way to start the year, but it got better. The green flag dropped and they were off. The hard charging 81 tried everything to spin the 44 but Tyler drove hard and never lifted. The other close call came with one of the other Amigos (23h Dustin Heath) pulling up side by side but Tyler held him off. When the checkered flag flew “The COBRA” was the first to cross the stripe. This was the first A main WIN for Tyler at the Red Bluff track.
Coming in the New Year a special new look on the kart with special thanks going out to ACCR Wood Stoves & American Custom Cycle Rentals of Chico, Shock Factor Custom Painting, and Graph X Designs
Tyler “COBRA” Rodgers paint scheme unveiled. Check it out. Happy New Year’s.
Dec.20th, 2008 – Last race before the Holiday layoff. Race eight saw some very fast qualifying times with Tyler running his best of 10.780 which put him in 11th. That time just two weeks ago would have been 3rd quick. The heat race went fast with Tyler getting off to a good start but the fast 55x made the pass for the lead when they went three wide passing a lapped kart. Second place meant skip the B main. Tyler ran his fastest lap ever in the heat with a 10.508. The A main went very well with Tyler finishing 5th which equals his best finish of the RB season.
Dec.13th, 2008 Race seven started with a vveerryy muddy packing of the track. I know we race on dirt(Bob) but after my kart hit the wall three times and got ran into several more I was not very happy about the conditions, Tyler didn’t like it much either. QRC probably doesn’t mind. Enough about that, Tyler qualified 10th with #7 just in front and the #23h stepped it up and left the two amigos three spots behind him. GOOD job Dustin. Tyler started outside front row in his heat with an overly aggressive 9A inside. The race got off to a bad start for Tyler who found him self playing catch up. Tyler finished third which spelled B main. The line up for the B found #7 and Tyler on the front row. They both got a great start swapping positions a few times during the race. Derick #7 came out on top with Tyler a close second. The A main was going good with some good racing action until Tyler Brown #9 hit the turn four wall very hard head on. Luckily Tyler B. seems to be alright. His kart didn’t fair as well. Tyler #44 was up to 4th at one point and looking good but some of the karts that went to the back because of cautions came charging hard. Tyler finished up 8th. Tyler gained a little on the points battle.
Dec.6th, 2008 -HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER Big 7- Race six started as usual #23h, Tyler, and #7 qualifying 8, 9, 10. As the season goes on all the drivers are picking up speed. Tyler has been faster every race but so has the competition. The heat race didn’t start too good, Tyler got into the 6r on the start sending him to the rear of the field. He gave it a good try but ended up four. The always treacherous B main went pretty well with a few close calls and nervous moments but Tyler made it through finishing 3rd. The A main went smooth with very few problems. These kids in our class do a very good job of racing for their experience level. Tyler finished 10th and made a small move in points.
Nov.22nd, 2008-Race five started with qualifying as always and found Tyler, #7, #23h, 11th, 12th, and 13th. Tyler started his heat race from the outside of row two. When the green flew Tyler had the lead going into the first corner with #81 hot on his tail. Tyler held off #81 to take his first heat race WIN and a fifth place starting position in the “A”main. In the main fourth place was in reach but couldn’t quite make the pass. Tyler finished 5th making that his best finish at Red Bluff.
Nov.15th, 2008-Things were looking good for race four. The three amigos qualified 7, 8, 9, with Tyler in 9th. Tyler started on the inside of row two in his heat race and had the lead by the time he crossed the start line. Followed closely by 38x the entire race Tyler stayed out front until the last corner coming to the checkered flag when a lapped kart bunched things up. Tyler went high and 38x went low with the low line winning out. Tyler looked very good and the second place finish meant no “B”main. Yeh! The “A”main ended with #44 in 7th place (#23h 6th, #7 8th see) it was the best finish so far.
Nov.8th, 2008-Race three we made an engine change (Special thanks to M.J. Shelton General Engineering Inc.) to the subaru. We qualified 8th but couldn’t quite get into the transfer spot in the heat race so off to the “B”main again. The three amigos, as we’ve been calling them (#7, #23h, and Tyler), finished 1, 2, 3 in “B”main. We call them this because they always seam to be together on the track. The “A”main ended with another 8th place finish with #7 and #23h right in front of Tyler.
Nov.1st, 2008-The second race went about like the first. A 3rd place finish in the heat meant back to the “B”main. Tyler raced very well, with a number of cautions, restarts, and lapped karts it was a nail biter. Tyler transferred again and improved with an 8th place finish in the “A”main.
Oct.25th, 2008-The first race of the 08-09 season started with an 11th place “A”main finish it was the only main of the night without a caution. We got there by transferring out of the “B”main. Tyler started were he left off at the end of last season. It was a good start to the season.
